The clash of empires exhibition will be huge – the largest artefact-driven museum exhibition on the Anglo-Zulu War, and it is happening in London in July.
Alex Haimann and the world renowned historian Ian Knight are co-curators.
Tickets can be found here.
I have just spoken to Alex all about it and that film can be viewed below.
The event is happening at the Royal Philatelic Society in London – the oldest philatelic society in the world – established in 1869.
Personally, I am really excited for it. In fact, I will be there from the 11th to the 15th of July – making films and conducting interviews with some of the amazing panelists.
People I plan to interview include Ian Knight himself (speaking about his new book on Rorke’s Drift) and the wonderful John Laband, who will be speaking on both Lord Chelmsford and also the Zulu royal family.
On the 1st of July, before I get to London, I’ll be posting an interview with my good friend Cam Simpson all about his research into the men of the Natal Mounted Police – a unit decimated at Isandlwana fighting alongside Colonel Durnford.
And on the 7th of July you can watch and listen to my chat with Colin Mathieson all about the water-cart rescue at Rorke’s Drift and how this small event inspired to publish a graphic novel on it.
Loads to look forward to.
If you come, then please greet me. The first five people to do so will get one of my funky new t-shirts (see below)
